The opponent is not the issue for most. It's the bowl game that most are pissed about. Based upon your theory Alabama and Note Dame shouldn't be playing in the championship game. See how that works?

if we were playing Clemson in the Cotton or Outback, there would be excitement....
a good portion of the fanbase (like me) still has a grudge aganist the Capital One since the 2010 game and the condition of the field....
