Mississippi deer hunting?

Im not a big hunter, shooter yes, hunter no.
Why does hunting with dogs get a longer season for whitetail than hunting without dogs?
Smartass question:Could I just sit my dog in the stnad with me?
Ive only hunted without dogs and have a chance to go to my BIL's lease in mid January. I dont really care if we dont get to deer hunt, but I might try to borrow some gear and shoot some hogs.

Bro you can still hunt during dog season without the dog! Thats just the only time you can dog hunt.. You can also still/stand hunt during the designated "dog season"

If it is in the southeast zone then don't go expecting much. The deer aren't near as plentiful as they are in the rest of the state.

You can gun hunt in MS from Nov. 17 - Jan 31 without dogs. There are certain times within those dates where dog hunting is allowed. The "without dogs" season is not longer than the "with dogs" season.

I know, because they always send me pictures of random other shite other than deer. I know they have a crap ton of hogs though.
If all else fails, I know the lease has large open areas. Ill bring the steel and we'll shoot the 260 as far at it can go.
