That is very good jambalaya, in Wisconsin.
Although the brown version of the dish, which is preferred west of the New Orleans area, is not the original. Jambalaya, which roughly translates to ham with rice, originally contained whatever vegetable were on hand, including okra and tomatoes.
In New Orleans I have had restaurant versions which included shrimp and tomatoes, and they were very good. The brown version is very popular too, I go with the skill of the chef to produce good eats.
