In fact, the the Donal Logue character would more likely find himself jammed up under the law. We have a right to a reasonable expectation of privacy.


Depends on state law. In Louisiana as long as one of the parties being recorded is aware of the recording, it's admissible (or at least it was when I took my law class sometime pre-2005).

It's not illegal, but admissibility is another matter. It would still need to pass the general admissibility tests.
