This all results from Tech being in a bubble over there in Ruston, like many smaller college towns, and thinking they are more important and recognized nationally than they really are. Fact is nobody outside of Northern Louisiana cares about Louisiana Tech all that much. The Independence Bowl still could have brought Tech over. And no matter how you spin it, nothing but arrogance got Tech where it is today. Call it thinking a better bowl was going to come knocking, call it thinking they are above playing ULM, whatever the reason was, it all boils down to having their noses up in the air. The Indy Bowl called them on it, gave them the middle finger by going with Ohio and now Tech has shite all over its face. And now, Tech is royally screwed. The team is not going to be nearly as good next year. No bowl is going to want to deal with them should they be eligible again in the near future. If Dykes leaves, who's going to want that job knowing that you may end up in this situation after a good year. And, their worse nightmare has come true in that ULM is the up and coming, feel-good program in the region that got more local focus and attention, even with Tech being 9-3.

This whole thing has a been a fail by North Louisiana football and all should be disgraced except nlu.

Tech always begs for Shreveports support and complains that they don't get it and then pull this kind of crap. Sure the Indy bowl is not marquee but has a good history, is a bowl game, and it would have been a chance to have an extra rivalry game in Shreveport and would have had interest in the area.

Also tech get over yourself. Ulm is and should be a rival. Hell the campuses are 40 miles apart with similar athletic heritages. Really what is wrong with having a rival and not ducking them.

I speak from a unique perspective I went to both ulm and la tech and graduated from la tech. I went to la tech vs ulm games in the late nineties and had a hell of a good time with great crowds at both stadiums. I don't see the issue with them playing and think it should happen more.

Lastly, the Indy bowl should also have some blame. You guys know the drill and know your a low tier bowl. They should have a least waited a little bit for tech to evaluate its options.
