edited subject title to reflect discussion...

2005 LSU 11-2 (Chic-fil-A-won)
2006 LSU 11-2 (Sugar Bowl-won)
2007 LSU 12-2 (BCS Championship-won)
2008 LSU 8-5 (Chick-fil-A-won)
2009 LSU 9-4 (Capital One-lost)
2010 LSU 11-2 (Cotton-won)
2011 LSU 13-1 (BCS Champioship-lost)
2012 LSU 10-2 (tbd)

I think LSU is "great" under Miles, but not "elite". With an average loss % at 2.5 losses per year and no undefeated seasons, we can't claim "elite" status, but we are damn close and can claim to graduate players and run a clean program. Nobody is as good as Bama and Saban and nobody will be as long as Saban is there. Every now and then Bama will lose a game or 2 and be out of the BCS picture, but the body of work will be "elite" as it already is with consistent 1 loss or undefeated seasons. What say you...is LSU "good", "great" or "elite" in your view and what does the future hold?

Dissapointing. We should be going for our 3rd in 4 years, not egstatic that we slid into the Cotton Bowl instead of the Chicken Bowl

LSU has the second most wins (boise has 91) in college football. I would call that elite..Playing for two national titles and three sec titles.

Personally, I think a team that is one of the five best programs in the NCAA is elite. By that definition, LSU is certainly an elite program. Now, can we claim to be at the same level as Alabama.................? No we can't. But then again, they are on one of the greatest runs in modern college football history. We just happen to be playing in that same era, unfortunately.

But, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't proud of where are program is currently. Even when Saban was hired at Alabama, I didn't envision a run like what they're on right now. I never thought we'd see a coach go on a run similar to the one Tom Osbourne went on at the end of his career. But again, unfortunately for us, we're seeing exactly that. In fact, we have a front row seat............................................

well said. I am proud of the program and proud of the players that choose LSU over other programs. All of us on here wish for the success Bama is having, but they earned it. When the timing was right, they bucked up and went and got the best coach/recruiter there is and its paying off. Good for them, bad for us. I am still proud of our program. There are things we all would like to change with Miles, but he is who he is and every now and them we will beat Bama, but its touch watching them win it 3 out of 4

Pretty much.

Although if Bama doesn't get to erase the Game of the Century then LSU is in a lot better place.
