As an outsider, Ryan is sort of 'the best of the rest', behind the Big 4. The Falcons have an outstanding record, but they resemble the Ravens in a lot of ways-- they've built it with very good situational play, and a schedule that has broken favorably-- but I don't see them as the best team in the NFC.

to be fair, the Ravens usually have a tough schedule because they always make the playoffs and end up playing the Patriots every year, it seems. But while I see where you coming from, the Falcons and Ravens are pretty different (Ryan is far better than Flacco, but the Ravens have a much better run game). However, I do like how the Falcons corners play so physical. That's Ravens-esque. A defense that toes the line of legality with its physical play (though this is the worst Ravens defense in a decade).

Every team is deeply flawed. The Packers can't play defense. The Giants just aren't that great, just the luckiest team on earth. The Bears are falling apart. OK, I guess the Niners are the team to beat. But none of the NFC contenders are all that frightening. Why not the Falcons? They are balanced, which can pay off in the playoffs.
