re: Arkansas Will Request Permission this Sunday to Speak With Petersen

Petersen's resume is 10x's more impressive than any other Boise St coach that's come before him. He's got something like an 8-2 record against BCS schools. The other coaches, combined, had something like 2 or 3 wins and they were from the likes of Oregon St when they were super-shitty.

Im sure they will speak, and he will turn them down as well..

So you think no Petersen, no Patterson, no Gundy. Will you come back and eat crow if one of these 3 is hired?

quote:completely agree. and i would make the argument hawk's success there was on the back of petersen, the OC. with the other coaches, boise was good. petersen took them to new, unprecedented heights. just think what he could do with 4-5 star talent instead of 2-3 stars

Depends but prob not. I mean, Florida hired a coordinator. It happens.

What if we hired some coach coming off of a 7-5 year?

For us, it'd likely be 3-4 star guys. But if he were to join Arkansas, he might could get some of his old staffers back together who have hit TX pretty hard.

Chris Peterson is not going to be the Arkansas coach. Yall are fricking dreaming. Ask for official permission all you want, but when he officially says "frick nahh," I can't wait to see Arkansas fan spin it into "upon further review, we decided coach Pete isn't good enough to be our coach...."
...so did you think arkansas wanted miles?

Florida is a top 3 job and couldn't land Petersen so your theory isn't really that sound.

If the .1 percent chance Petersen does come here it will not be because of our job but due to the other scenery oriented landscapes that come with it. Boise is a nice place but it is not as nice as NWA.

list 19 better ones
SC
tOSU
florida
LSU
OU
UGA
BAMA
meeeechigan
texas A&M
florida st
NEBRASKA
ND
oregon
UCLA
i think those are all better, loosely ranked.
then you get into comparables-- where ones preference would be a deciding factor:
tennessee- poor recuiting base
USCe
awburn
penn st- sanctions have dropped it
miami- looming NCAA problems?
arizona st- has all the potential in the world
washington
OSU- pickins and gundy have been great together
clesmon
virginia tech
where does arkansas fit among the 10 above-- and i mean to someone who isnt from arkansas and doesnt think its a top 5 job(unlike most pig fans in the last week)? i keep hearing the money argument, but its not like you just overpay everyone. you could have $50 billion boosters, but if its not trickling down to the coaching staff, that doesnt matter. facilities are on par with the top half of the SEC. other than being in the SEC, which is a double edged sword in itself, what makes arky such a premo job?

so the tipping point will be scenery? GTFO!

according to pete roussel (however you spell his name) we're top 15. pretty sure he has no real connection to arky- thus i don't think you could call it a 'homer' opinion. he had a few reasons- one was facilities and not just current but the fact that we'd shown recently that we were all about improvements, etc. showing we put our money where our mouth is.
another reason was jeff long- he's got a great rep among coaches, said he's spoken with many who had dealt with him and all gave him 2 thumbs up.
