My neighbors behind me run dogs and it just so happens I own the last 1/2 mile stretch of creek (both sides) up to the road. Said creek drains a couple of thousand acres. As you can imagine they cross me and catch dogs on my road frontage all the time.

I hate people running dogs. They say they can't control the dogs, but they know everything uses that creek. Their holding rifles trying to "catch" dogs up on the damn highway.

Oh yeah, the timber lease behind me where they do this is also a 3000 acre lease...

Glad to know you hate one of the oldest forms of hunting.

Perhaps they just don't want to leave their rifle laying in the woods somewhere? Just because they are there with a gun doesn't mean they're trying to kill deer on the road. As much as you hate it, trying to catch dogs on the side of the road is 100% legal. They own it as much as you do.

I can see both sides in this argument. We need to find a way to deal with the problem without getting the law involved. More laws rarely help.

I used to love dog hunting when I was a kid. Owned a pack of rabbit beagles till I was old enough to leave home and I get a real deep thrill anytime I hear beagles on a rabbit. Or dogs on a deer. But there's dogs running around my place that chase deer practically every day of the year and at least one of them is collared and I'm pretty sure these are one of the 'neighbors' dogs so I haven't popped them yet. They mess me up one day and I might not be so forgiving.

It sucks that dog hunting is probably on the way out. Leases and management and the expense involved all are making it where unless you have an enclosure or are surrounded by public land, you're almost guaranteed to be fricking up somebody's hunt eventually.
