I am contemplating buying one for shits and giggles. thinking about putting it in one of the food plots during rut and seeing what happens. Putting a little tink's on it's pooty poo and seeing what happens.
anyone on here ever had any luck with it? always have hunted scrapes in the morning and food plots in the evenings. never used any type of decoy.

I really don't have anything mor to add.
Actually you could put some green reflection tape in the eyes and find out what kindof poaching problem you have...
Thats all I got bro.

I would probably shoot mine if i had one due to frustration of not seeing a real deer!

I know of one guy that hunts in Natchez that uses them to draw deer in from the fields. They only bow hunt and have very unpressured land on about 400 acres to themselves (2 hunters). I doubt it would be effective if there is much pressure. Are you in a lease? or private land?

They work well on well managed land with a good buck/doe ratio. Where the bucks actually have to fight for does. Around here, you may be able to draw one in during the peak of the rut or around a really agressive buck.

while siting on the stand this morning i was wondering the same thing

Never heard of anybody locally using them with and success. I imagine if you stuck with it from pre rut to the end of the season you may wind up having some. Always imagined bucks that cruise inside the woodline checking fields for does might come out enough to present a shot. Figure most people get tired of packing them in and out and don't stick with it long enough.

I've always wondered about using them, but never have. I dont know anyone that uses them either.

I'm no expert but if you put a doe decoy up in the rut and sprayed her with some tinks, some horny bastard is going to attempt to get a piece of it.

Had a buddy who tried that once on public land. Placed it out in a meadow near a pond and under the shade of a lone oak tree. Damn thing got shot twice by other hunters en route to and from their hunts.
First he was mad, then he started placing the decoy in different places just to frick with people. One time he watched a bow hunter stalk it and laughed like hell. Had many laughs with that thing.
