Not wishing for it just asking if it seems likely now?

Records are irrelevant. The Cotton wants to be a primetime game with high interest.
Bowls don't look at the standings of teams in conferences anymore, they look at whatis the best matchup to get the most publicity. Texas vs. aTm is that matchup especially this year, since aTm just gave Texas and the Big12 the finger and left for the SEC. The most appealing matchup for the Cotton is Texas vs aTm.
Assuming LSU wins, they will be in the BCS if Florida loses. If Florida wins, then expect LSU to be in the Capital One or the Chik-Fil-A. The Outback never takes SECw teams.
A LSU/Michigan Capital One Bowl would get press, so if LSU is out of the BCS, look for that matchup to happen.

Here's my wish list
UGA loses to ga tech
Fsu demolishes UF
Usce beats Clemson
Nd loses to uscw
Texas beats KState
Auburn beats Bama (doesn't have to happen)
Oregon state beats Oregon
Lsu beats UGA or (UGA beats Bama)
Ga tech beats fsu
Stanford beats ucla
Lsu vs Stanford in MNC
The only caveat is how far nd would call. They may not fall far enough.

Doesn't matter really. LSU would rape Texas. I would prefer beating ND or Oregon again.
PS
I don't even know why K-State is even in the picture. They played in a crap conference.
