Don't knock freezing the scotch, I can't stand the rocks either...
I have an outside fridge with the quasi freezer up in the corner...kind of your first dorm fridge...that's is where I hide mine.
I also pour and let sit for a few before I taste, and since I'm outside, it warms up perfect, kind o like letting a wine breathe I assume

Right, you want to swirl it and really Nose it first. You want the bouquet to fill your senses. Inhale deeply so you can truly appreciate the subtle nuances of the nose.
