He has veto power on trades this season. He's out of town but still making an attempt at Hornets friendly tweets. If his stance was that he's not playing until he's traded, why go through with a PR charade for fans you don't plan to play for? He didn't make that effort last year.

What does that matter? If he doesn't like the team he is traded to, he will sit like he is doing now.
It matters a lot, actually. I'm actually having a hard time figuring out which part you don't understand.

Jim Jackson didn't want to play in New Orleans. Neither did Dale Davis. Neither stepped foot in the city. Jackson was eventually traded again to PHX. Who's to say Gordon doesn't do the same thing?

Gordon made no effort to do or say the "right" things last year. He's still not very good at it, but he appears to be making an effort to do that now. Why do that if you are leaving? I still think there's a chance this is all a trade demand situation, but there is more evidence suggesting it's an injury situation.

It can be argued that putting on the happy face makes him appear more desireable to everyone, not just New Orleans. It would have the additional benefit of endearing him to some here should a trade not materialize for a while or ever.
I've heard things claiming to be specific knowledge of him not being injured a lick and just the opposite.
Regardless, it is in everyone's best interest that he be able to play at a high level in mid-December and that he be a shiny happy person from now, until then, and beyond.
That serves Eric, the franchise, and the fans. The opposite does the opposite. So, I read nothing in there.
I want him gone for another reason entirely. I want us to be able to select players for the team whose contract dates don't bunch up. Right now, he's on the same timescale as Anderson and Davis and Rivers. Davis' extension will kick him out of the mix. If Rivers pans out, he'll be restricted. Gordon and Anderson then become an issue. Replace him with a guy signed in the coming offseason, and we have a better stagger.

If he starts getting fined for conduct detrimental to the team and his only other option is playing, he knows he is going to be hated by the fans. At least by pretending now he can say he always wanted to be here.
