Why would you suggest a long-term bond/bond fund when rates will rise in the mid-term.

Rates are expected to be around the same level for about 2 and a half years.

Did you miss the part about saying stay in till QE3 ends?

I didn't mean literally buying a bond. Buy shares of a bond fund that you can later sell.

And I didn't recommend it as a permanent long term investment.

But if you are cashing out of stocks (which I don't personally advise), it'll do you far more good in a bond fund in the interim rather than something liquid getting like .5% interest.
