I agree that Tripplehorn was bad in that role.
That role was similar to the one Ashley Judd played as the wife of Mathew McConaughey in A Time to Kill. At a point in the movies the viewer was expected to have sympathy for them because their husband's jobs put them in jeopardy. I never felt any for Jeanie.
Ashly Judd should have gotten the The Firm role. She could have seduced all of the partners, Cruise's character's brother, the Gary Busey PI character, Willford Brimley's character's fat butt and the albino and Sally Hunter together.
Maybe it's because the first thing I saw JT in was Basic Instinct. That kind of gave her a desperate, want-to-be-but-never-was vibe. I never thought she was very attractive. Still don't.

James Mardsen as Cyclops, simply not the chops for that role-although the role was written poorly.
