I'll repeat. I did my clinical residency in a state-controlled psychiatric hospital. Over 30% of my patients were adolescents. The one thing they had in common, and I mean every single one of them, was that they had zero capacity to understand their own culpability in how they got where they were. To a person they all blamed the judge, or the cops, or their parents, or their teachers for their situation.
