I loved this movie. It was what I expected and then a lot more.
The entire cast did an excellent job as I found all of the characters believable and not "over done".
It was good to see John Goodman (no pun intended) back on the screen and in with a solid supporting role.
Don Cheadle is typical Don Cheadle.
Nadine Velazquez puts in the best performance for a movie's opening scene since forever.
In my opinion, this is Denzel's most solid performance in years.

Just got home for the matinee. Really enjoyed it. Best opening scene. Ole Captain Whip liked to get down.

May just be drinking water during the game though...

Saw it last night. I enjoyed it, then again it's hard not to like a Denzel movie for me personally

glad to read these opinions - makes it easier to justify to the significant other to go see it.

He was good in Argo as well.
Really enjoyed flight, although it makes me not want to drink...ever

While incredibly charming and charismatic, Whip, was a selfish, loathsome human being. He deserved to spend a large part of his life in jail. I would have reduced the sentence somewhat for his heroic efforts, however. That said, if something like that doesn't stop you from drinking, nothing will. Don't tell me that he was sober at the end because he had no access to drugs. Once he gets out, he will revert to his old ways.
