Davis was great, but I'm wondering why his minutes were limited in the 4th.

If you want a reason to hate +/-, Davis was at -20 last night. Anderson was the best on the team at +16. Not a single Hornets starter was in the +. maybe monty should bench them all.

Lopez was OK. His defense was good, but he missed a few too many fairly easy put backs. Would love to see a bit more offensive production out of him.

Rivers sucked. 1-of-9 for a shooting guard? Hornets win the game with EG starting, I hate to say it.

General was a good facilitator, but he looked kinda out of place at times. That will get better over time.

Free-throw shooting was amazing (21-of-23). That won't happen every night, but that kept the hawnets in the game for the most part. Very pleased with the way the rookies handled some clutch free-throws down the stretch.

Turnovers were killer. Far too many. Especially Miller and Aminu. Aminu just looked clumsy with the ball.

Not a single starter had a 3 pointer. The 4 of those (of the 17 they took) came from the bench. That's not good. General had a wide open 3 late in the game that could have blown the roof off the place. There were so many times when the crowd wanted to get into it, and they were one shot away from doing it. They just couldn't get those big shots late to drop.

Anyone else want to add something, subtract something? Thoughts?

Honestly, I don't think Aminu was that bad he had 3 turnovers to go with 3 assists in 37 minutes. 1:1 isn't terrible. The problem was how UGLY two of them were. That said, he was straight up mugged on one of them (and picked up a foul chasing the loose ball).

ETA: Rivers had 3 in only 24 minutes with only 2 assists. I know he's young, but at some point he has to start making positive plays.

I thought Aminu and Vasquez bring great energy to the team! Dunks like the ones Aminu had last night will get the younger players pumped up and ready to top it. I thought we looked very sloppy at times but being the first game I was very impressed overall with this young team!
Geaux Hornets!

i think that was my thing. 2 of them were just awful. like inexcusable. i'd allow one of those every once in a while, but in a tight game, having multiple is killer. so i guess it was just magnified in the close game.

I was ready to go nuts on that shot, but he doinked it.

I think Rivers was our weakest link on the court. On one pass he recieved the ball went through his hands and hit him in the head, I couldn't help but laugh. I'm hoping it was just 1st game jitters for him. He has to make people respect him as a scorer or it's going to be tough for the rest of the team.

One of the most impressive stats of the night for the hornets. They keep playing good D and making freethrows, that alone will keep them in games.

The 3rd quarter goof ups hurt us a bunch. They just came out sloppy for some reason. Aminu and Miller had some turnovers, but they both played well I thought outside of that.

The thing that impressed me a bunch was the new found tempo. This team can run and push the ball up the court. They were very fun to watch. I liked how they didn't get rattled after the Spurs came back a took a bit of a lead. They kept battling and played well as a unit.

Jason Smith looked good and looks deserving of more minutes for sure.

Now we just need a great scorer not sitting on the end of the bench. EG plays and this team will surprise people.

for a young team, a very young team (and the TP had a write up about this on NOLA.com today, and it's worth a read), that may have been the most impressive thing. i was worried when they went down by 10 there was no coming back. but they battled.

i'm afraid Monty is putting too much on Rivers. but really there aren't many other options due to EG. AD can handle it. not sure Rivers can.

those minutes will come in time when he gets fully healthy. he definitely deserves them. he's so damn good as a 6th/7th man.

I agree with this. At times I thought he looked a little scared/nervous out there, and like he didn't want the ball when he had it. However, as the game went on, he made some very nice plays, especially the bounce passes in the paint for easy dunks.

Overall, I was very impressed with the entire team's offense. Scoring 50 in the first half and 95 total was great. Offensive production like that was greatly missed last season. Of course, having Gordon's offense last night may have put us over the top for the win! Hopefully he can be back soon and healthy for the rest of the season.

Last night definitely showed that this will be an even more exciting team than last season and that the future looks bright!!

he was bad...he shot horribly through the preseason too. He's getting in the paint, but he needs to finish.

He should probably stop taking 3s, cause it's ugly.

Miller let himself get trapped in the corner a couple of times, but he'll learn and fix that.

I don't think there will ever not be some WTF moments from Aminu, but if he plays like he did last night, it more than makes up for them

I'm just having a hard time seeing where he fits in the NBA. That said, the 10 slot is usually tricky.

i said this during the heat game...there will be series where he goes up the court, air balls a shot...next possession, he gets an and 1. next, he misses a layup off the side of the goal. then come back and hits a 3 pointer. that's just how he's going to roll

ya, it's not working right now...the guy's supposed to be a scorer, but he shoots horribly.

it's early and he's young...hopefully he will figure it out

ya, aminu is very inconsistent like that at times...i guess it's good that he can put the mistakes out of his head.

he finished very well at the rim last night...and that turnaround jumper, while not advised, looked very improved. He played more confident than maybe he ever has.

...and those dunks

His misses were not as bad as we've seen at times in the past.
