The one thing that sticks out about '79 USC is the constant "Tiger Bait" chant that rocked the stadium from the time USC came out for warmups till the end of the game. No booing, just a continuous roar of "Tiger Bait, Tiger Bait, Tiger Bait . . .". It was tremendous !

This is the one thing I miss most from the "old days"- the entire stadium SCREAMED all the cheers in unison, not just random noise. "Go...Go...Go Big Tigers Go", and "Poosh 'em back, Poosh 'em back, Wa-a-a-y back!", etc. You could hear the collective coonass accent clearly, it was a beautiful thing...

I can remember the media making the USC team the greatest of all time. They were crushing people and were loaded with talent. The LSU team was good with a solid defense. Back then LSU was all about having great defenses with a conservative offense (3 yards and a cloud of dust). I remember thinking LSU was going to show the media gods what hard nosed football was all about. The excitement started building during the week leading up to the game. By the time the game got there, people were ready to strapped it on. The Tigers fought with a true passion and the fans had the stadium rocking. I listen on the radio and got goose bumps listening to the game. I was so proud of the team and the fans for showing them what LSU/ SEC/southern football was all about. If not for the refs LSU would have pulled the upset. Pisses me off to this day. Their linemen tackling our defensive linemen with no calls of holding. GRRRRRRRRRR.
