If running to the outside, I can buy that. But how does an extra TE help us running up the middle, which is the base scheme of this offense? Our passing threat is nonexistent so the extra TE will do little to draw the attention of the LBs.

For one, the extra man on the line makes it easier for a pulling OL to engage a LB. Since we have athletic OL this could be as effective as a FB.

I understand that making the throws keep the defense honest but against a team like Bama you NEED to connect on at least half of your chances if you plan on winning. We can beat A&M missing on ALL of our deep routes not Bama.

There won't be wide open receivers running up and down the field all day like there was against A&M. Just go ahead and accept that then re-assess your key to the game.
