Savage makes a great gun for the money. I would go with the 30-06 if you eventually want to hunt bigger game. Best all around big game caliber in my opinion. Nikon makes excellent scopes for a reasonable price. Don't skimp on the optics. Redfields also makes high quality budget scopes.
