Can anyone help me find an M&P Shield 9mm for under MSRP price? According to Smith and Wesson's website it is retailing for at $450 I think. Help?

Goodluck. That is a highly demanded piece and supply is little. ECON 101 says you'll be paying a premium for it.

I was happy to get one for 500 after searching for two months, but that was back in June. I don't think 450 is that bad dude, doubt anywhere you find it online will beat that by 10 bucks or so after shipping.

Bayou Pawn in Zachary. Called them up, asked them to order one, came in a week later and only paid $400.

And you got the only one!

The M&P Shield is a highly sought piece. I had another friend snag one from Hebert Guns for $439. I think the Bayou Pawn deal is the best I've seen lately though.

It's a great gun if you can find it. Expect to pay over MSRP. Not everyone is as lucky as Aaron Burr.

The way it handles recoil really is impressive. But the concept isn't really new.

My Kahr CM9 handles recoil exceptionally well because it utilizes a low bore axis, meaning the barrel is almost directly in front of your palm. So there is less muzzle "flip" and there is more of a rearward "push" into your hands. The entire M&P line utilizes this same concept.

Also, the slim grip makes it much easier to get a good hold. I've never been good at getting a grip on those giant Glock grips. They are just way too bulky and don't feel right. The slimmer ones feel right at home.

It'll take some time looking through all the available deals, but you'll have a good idea of best price by checking out this website:

This. Even with the full size M&P.

ETA:
They just need to perfect the trigger. That is just me being used to the Glock trigger reset.

Agreed. They should sell them from the factory with the Apex trigger kit. I heard it completely transforms how the M&P handles.

There's apparently no way to modify a Kahr trigger to achieve a reset position like the Glocks -- according to Kahr and according to The Cylinder & Slide Shop. I have several Kahrs and have personally spoken with both shops looking for a trigger job. Shooting at speed, when you're used to the Glock trigger, can easily lead to short-stroking the Kahr trigger.

The M&P Shield does have a "re-set trigger." When they become readily available, I may sell a couple of my NIB Kahrs and get a couple of the Shields.

I think he was referring to the Shield trigger, but maybe I was wrong.

You're definitely right about the Kahr trigger though. It really is almost identical to a double action revolver trigger - smooth all the way through but the reset is all the way forward. I still love my Kahr though. She'll protect me if I ever need her to.

And they reworked the reset on the Shield trigger. Supposedly this reworked trigger will eventually work its way into the entire M&P line.
