Bama and LSU along with Florida have had the misfortune of this latest run coming at a time when the SEC has been absolutely brutal at the top. In 2008, Alabama lost to #1 Florida. In 2009, they beat #1 Florida. In 2010, they lost to the eventual national champion and in 2011 they had 2 games against the #1 ranked team in the country. In other words, 4 of Alabama's 6 losses in the last 5 seasons have come against either the #1 or #2 ranked team and/or the eventual national champion which is a ridiculous stat when you think about it. Only the 2010 losses to South Carolina and LSU were not against either the #1 or #2 ranked team.

Miami has had similar runs, Florida State as well. They had a couple of years with only 1 loss to the #1 or #2 team by a late missed FG only they never got a rematch.
