But this really is his best performance. He becomes Lincoln, beyond an uncanny physical resemblance.

Really? She knows Lincoln. We have hours of video footage of Lincoln she watched to compare?

This is what I was thinking too. No doubt DDL puts in a great performance, but how do we actually know he becomes Lincoln? I'm certain no one alive has actually seen Abe Lincoln in person

We know what Lincoln was like because we have tons of his personal letters and such, as well as those of his closest advisors. There was a record before videotape, you know.

While we're recommending Lincoln books, The Fiery Trial is excellent, about the development of his ideology particularly slavery. Very interesting. And of course, the movie is based on Team of Rivals, which demonstrates that Seward and Stanton were pretty bad arse.

Man you guys are ridiculous. When I watched Gangs of New York, I wasn't thinking... "Man DDL is a great actor." I Was thinking "Damn, Bill the Butcher is a bastard." DDL became Bill the Butcher in that movie. I am sure this woman means the same thing.

But this is typical Movie Board. Guess Lincoln is gonna be the new "cool to bash" movie.
