I'd rather have a lead that kicks arse and takes names later, but has sense enough to know what to do for the greater good of the plot. That's not to say she won't make mistakes but at least don't present her to be a moron of epic proportions.

Exactly! And this wasn't meant as an I hate female leads thing. It's the type of character these people are
