What is the deal with not liking okra cut up? Yall throw hole okra in the gumbo?

It's smothered..not sliced up and chunky. It has flavor and makes the gumbo really thick. I do not like the sliced okra in a gumbo.

ETA: here is a pot of smothered okra. Add a quart of that to a gumbo.
