The main reason to not resign him is the amount of money he's gonna get. Its not worth that much money to invest in somebody who cant stay healthy. Plus he could drink a beer at any moment and then start taking body shots off of Ron.

He played in 150 games this season.... He stayed relatively healthy this season. He is going to get 15-18 million a year easy. Rangers probably come in and offer 4 year with 5th option at 16 million a year. When he is healthy and focused he can be best player in league (see first 2 months of season) and can carry a team.
Several teams may come in and offer crazy money (Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers, Mets) and you could have a surprise team come out of no where and offer him a nice contract (maybe O's, Arizona, Rockies, Astros)
