Nope. I killed my first deer at 5 yrs old with a .410 slug. The next couple years I shot my Dad's Jam-master 30-06. When I was 9 I was given a Model 700 .270. It's still in my truck.

I looked at the Remington 700 SPS youth and Weatherby Vanguard youth both in .243. Both are awesome guns for 8-12 year olds…bought the Remington because of the action being smoother and fit him better.
