The problem with this team is not talent, it's consistency

We have nat'l championship caliber talent, but so far, we've only put it together for one full game (Washington). That's 1 game out of 4. Not great odds for a team that expects to contend for a NC. This team is young and will improve, but eventually the inconsistency is going to catch up with us against a quality team and there won't be a comeback.

Imagine if we gain consistency as the season goes along with practice? We will improve. Good lord

Tigahs will be okay. IMO....new QB.....some receivers with the jitters.....but I expect improvement from week to week. Hey....it's the SEC.

A lot of youth on this team. Some of the poor penalties are a result of that. They'll mature enough to go on the road and kick uf's arse.

I agree with this. And as much as I respect CLM, this is the biggest critique I have of his coaching style. It seems that more often than not, LSU is not disciplined in the fundamentals. During his tenure as coach, he has a phenomenal W-L record but his teams often play undisciplined football and his play calling is sometimes suspect. Clock and game management speaks for itself. In big, close games, this will eventually bite you. I would Love to see him hire a legitimate offensive coordinator and let him run the offense like Chavis does on defense. Stick to administration duties, recruiting, etc.

When I say consistency, I'm referring to the quality of play, not just wins and losses. LSU is more talented than 90% of the teams in the country. They can line up and play a B- to C grade game and still beat most teams bc of talent alone. Realistically, LSU prob only has to play well to beat 3-4 teams on it's schedule. But they need to improve the frequency of their good play bc it's not happening often enough to go through the SEC schedule without a couple of losses.

Amen on hiring a real offensive coordinator. The missing piece to the puzzle.

We got worse at QB play last year.

We got better as the season went along. There is no denying that. Just look at the scores.

"Running the ball and stopping the run remain the building blocks of a championship team, and LSU remains superior in both places. The LSU running game didn't dominate at Auburn, but it did roll up almost 200 yards, and the LSU defense allowed Auburn to cross midfield only twice."

Quote from an article.

Offense is fine. Running the ball and defense builds consistency.

No NCAA football coaching please. It is just a computer game.
