That's where a lineman usually ends up when executing a cut block. Problem is, the defensive player is supposed to end up there as well. CL played the block well and essentially slid past the block. JD's timing was terribly off, due more to CL's ability than his on inability IMO.
I think they should have been chip-blocking on passing downs from the outset.
