Okay I'm going to concede a bit and agree with SFP to an extent.
EA went overboard just slightly with the first touches. I understand what their objective was, but in trying to achieve that they subsequently eliminated 2 aspects of the game: counter attacks and overhead through balls. And while I'm not particularly upset with the former, the latter is quite troubling.
You're telling me that no matter which player I play with, I can't take down an overhead through ball? I played a few matches with Alexis Sanchez and Chile and was frustrated beyond belief. Lifting the ball over the back line while in the final third was working like a charm, but I couldn't even gain possession of the ball with Sanchez after doing so. I wish they would have negated this aspect of the game by increasing defensive positioning just a bit and making it harder to see/complete those passes, rather than making the touches so horrid that you quit trying it all-together.
Also, off the ball defensive positioning is once again awful. I can trap a defender in his own third through pressing, only to have him clear the ball to an unmarked forward. SMGDH

I've noticed this too. There always seems to be acres of space to exploit when you're attacking. I do like that the defenders seem to be more intuitive when it comes to cutting out passes and attacking the ball than they have been in the past, but there are times I wish they'd fill space a little better.
