Ryder Cup format for those who are not familiar with the event
The format of the Ryder Cup is match play with the winner of each match earning a point for their team (or half a point if the match is halved).
The 2012 Ryder Cup is likely to follow the same format as previous competitions with the following matches on each day of the 3 day tournament making a total of 28 points available.
Day 1 – Friday September 28th – four fourball (better ball) matches in the morning and four foursome matches in the afternoon session.
Day 2 – Saturday September 29th – four fourball (better ball) matches in the morning and four foursome matches in the afternoon session.
Day 3 – Sunday September 30th – 12 singles match play matches
The winning team will require 14½ points or more from the 28. If the event is a draw and finishes 14-14 the defending team (Europe) will retain the Ryder Cup until 2013.

Have to disagree Americans are in much better form as of this writing..I say we get 16 points to reclaim the cup.

Off the top, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I'll take the 1981 US squad.
Trevino, Kite, Bill Rogers, Larry Nelson, Crenshaw, Lietzke, Jerry Pate, Irwin, Miller, Watson, Floyd, Nicklaus.

Wait so you're rooting for the US, but are going to do that? Makes sense.
