there has to be defensive contact for forward progress.
imagine that he had ran out to the 20 yard line, then back to the endzone and then took a knee.
thats basically what happened; just on a smaller scale.

Yea, I'm not using forward progress an an excuse here. Just saying these rules are always confusing because they are inconsistent.
I just want to know what the rule says about safeties because Idk what it is. Body part, ball breaking the plane, entire ball crossing the goal line, etc
I was wondering last night during the LSU game. Id assume the entire ball has to cross the goal line for the rules to be consistent.
