Did the article also mention that the d-line held Idaho to 30 yds rushing and had a member of the line with a pick 6? The defense had 4 total interceptions because the qb was going to get rid of the ball before the rush got to him regardless of his receivers being covered. So instead of all out blitzing, sometimes our entire d-line didn't even rush. This is how one of our lineman dropped off of the line of scrimmage and picked off a slant pass and ran it back for a td.

It's also why Idaho was poor on 3rd down conversions, because even on 3rd and long, the ball was out quickly and thrown short of the first down marker, just hoping the receiver can pick up extra yards after the catch.

What I didn't understand is that we didn't press all of their receivers if they were doing the quick passes. We covered the slot with a safety playing 10 yards off of the receiver. It was easy pitch and catch for them when we defended like that.
