Birmingham supports its food trucks - do we?

I'm speaking more about official support, which is implied in a free music event being held today in BHM's new downtown city park called Trucks by the Tracks.
After the park event one can walk across the street and see even more free music at Good People Brewing.
I realize the Wround Up is sometimes held next to Tin Roof -- and God bless 'em for doing so -- but the BHM events seem be more organized and even... I dunno... wanted by the city and public.
Thoughts?

When you have people constantly saying "I never know where they are going to be" that's a very large part of the problem. And the other part is, besides LSU football, where people will suffer insufferable heat to not only watch the game but tailgate all day, and yet are reluctant to go to a truck because it's too hot, there's another issue. The foot traffic as well as doing anything outside besides LSU related activities here is abysmal to say the least. Now, the moment they get some killer food they start to get what it's about, but first you have to get them to venture outside and try it, the overwhelming vast majority of people here who simply have not made the first step.

I wonder if th city has these type of events for the existing restaurants and businesses in town that have permanent sites?

I thought BR supported them pretty well.

There's a following TA that do really well at supporting the trucks, but compared to food truck cities and areas aroung the country it's a drop in the bucket and you have to run numbers to make a living out of it which is why you see the trucks come and go. They do good food, but when you go to Tin Roof, or Calandro's where the big turnouts are it's the same faces, and thank God they are supporting this, but facts are cold and it's simply going to take a larger market to start getting it for these people to make enough money to make a living out of it, and if some of the best food in town doesn't draw them out, I'm not too sure what will anymore.

They had a food truck thing downtown when the new north street thing was being opened. I think some guy from Food Network or one of those guys was there. But food trucks are like any restaurant, some will make but most of them won't. People flock to curbside, three bones and several others. Curbside about to open a brick and mortar. I think BR supports them well.

The owner of Spoonfed Grill lives over near us somewhere. They've had their truck up here in Cahaba Heights for dinner a couple of nights a week. The Southern Soul Bowl is outstanding.
We had baseball today or we would have gone.
