With her mom's psycho couponing habit, why doesn't she just buy jarred sauce when it's on sale? I can't even imagine what sugar sweet ketchup taste like over pasta.
In all seriousness, I read The Godfather before I saw the movie. The book goes into a long detail of how to make real Italian Spaghetti Sauce. At the end of the recipe which is full of tomatoes, wine, spices and herbs the character says "And here is the secret ingredient. A cup of sugar."

I've never watched a minute of reality TV, it would be impossible to maintain even a sliver of humility if I did. What is described here are people I can always say "I'm so much better than them".
I tasted 'sketti sauce at a dinner in Birmingham that was made from Campbell's tomato soup and corn flake crumbs. I was the only one that didn't like it.

That's not uncommon. People add sugar to sauce to cut the acidity of the tomatoes. Monjuni's probably uses a ton of sugar in their signature sauce (a sauce I really like even though I was never brought up on sweet red sauces) but they also don't use ketchup in butter to make their sauce.
