I see there are kits on ebay for around 100, including the gun. Any suggestions, skill level?

I would rather pay $500 than attempt that

Not sure how difficult it is. Knew a guy that did his. Didn't last very long. Chipped off easily.

Every DIY one I've seen ended up turning everything that touched it black after a few years.

A buddy of mine that Downshift also knows did this to his whole truck. Actually came out pretty good, and he is a complete and utter dumbass.

I looked into a few of the DIY kits for my old chevy. The cheapest good quality kit was going to run me just over $200 for a long bed. I can have Linex with a lifetime warrenty for about $400 so I still havent decided wich I want to do.

I have used the Rustoleum roll on product on some of the old Toyota Landcruisers I renovate.I grind or blast down to bare metal, wipe with Naval Jelly, and it sticks like glue. All of that shite is dependent on how good you prep what's underneath. Most of the "spray in" companies like Linex, Rhino, Scoprion, etc, are chemically stripping your paint out of the bed before they apply the new lining.

I would put neither and save $200 to $400 dollars. DGAS if my truck bed is scratched.

Im with you. I figured this would be better money spent after it was tore up and you wanted it to look better like the help resale value if the bed is destroyed.

Same here. Don't give a damn. I thiml bedlining is a money making crock of shite.
To OP, like someone said earlier its all in the prep work.

I would have one of those heavy rubber mats if I didnt have fifth wheel rails in mine though.

I've never had one of those. I know the plastic drop ins will destroy your bed.

Sounds like a good choice for that if you have something to strip it with. Post us some before and after pics

I used to spray Rhino Linings and I have never chemically stripped a bed. Just use a plastic 4" cup brush on a fairly large grinder then wipe all the dust off with acetone. You don't really get the bed down to bare metal just get the clear coat off. Also temperature has to be right with damn near 0% humidity.
