That way you know exactly what you're spending .. If you get 2 beers and the bill is $24 .. then you figure it out then .. not after 6 hours of being a "hey brahhhhh.. I have a tab at the bar !!!!" cool dude and then stunned that your tab is $86 and come running here to trash Happy's for your incompetence .. It ain't their job to sort your table out ..

Exactly. And there is always the possibility of some douche standing or sitting near you overhearing your name. All he has to do is say is "Put this round on Glass/Rag's tab". It happens all the time I am sure.
