Sandbagging?

Ok, I am down with trying some new stuff. I also know that Lesticles kept the real play book closed.
How much of last night was sandbagging? My guess is 70-80% was the generic run up the middle, bubble left and right, and a few quick outs.
What is shocking to read here is all the negative comments. I left thinking that we could have easily hung 80 points on the Mean Green.
You could clearly see a shift in the play calling after the first two scores. Lesticles obviously toned it way down to keep North Texas from being shamed out of stadium.
I hope that next week, provided we are doing the same, Lesticles turns it up a bit. Lets say 50%.
GEAUX TIGERS!

We must have sandbagged in the national championship too.

I hate to tell you this but LSU opened it up last night. This is LSU's offense and for the most part the entire play book was used outside of a trick play or two.
Did you forget the last 4 years?

I used to think this, but the offense I saw last night was the same offense I saw in the freaking national championship game. There is no secret playbook.
THAT was the offense.
Bubble screens and pound up the middle with a set up for a stop and go now and then and a few deep passes mixed in.
We will see that all season. Get used to it.

Ever since 2008 I guess, people on here have been screaming about the secret playbook for years and how next week is always the week we won't be so vanilla...

If this is really the case we are in deep shite.

Yeah we pulled out the whole playbook for em. Hell we had I don't know how many break away plays get called back. That's no where near us pulling out all the stops. Hell we threw 12 bubble screens. And you can tell shep will have a few running plays this year.

He had one last night, lost about 10 yards

Used to believe in sandbag theory but not any more. Fool me once shame on you; Fool me twice shame on me.
LSU offense will be effective on sheer strength and execution. Wont be fooling too many teams with our offensive game plan.
Its almost as if our tightends and passes over the middle of field are off limits in this offense. It makes me nuts.

That's why we changed to JJ at the end of last year. We wanted to see if our D can win the games by themselves. They pretty much did.

why would you try to fool the other team if you're better than them?

Because at some point strategy and cunning are going to be your friend and relying on sheer power will not be enough. As much as I hate to say it, think of last Bama game. They threw new looks and wrinkles into their game plan because they new that lining up and playing smash mouth again would be a mistake.
I love winning and will enjoy watching LSU have another winning season. I just think that the parts are there to expand the offensive game plan.
LSU might end up back in the NCG relying on the status quo....I think they are a lock if they evolve the offense! And yes I know its the first game, but I base my observation on the past few seasons.

What happens when you meet up with a team that is your equal or better?

You're going to have to go in with a good game plan, execute and keep mistakes to a minimum. You're also going to have to try to force a couple of turnovers. And yes, try to pop something by giving them something they're not expecting. But top teams don't get beat by trickeration.
