I have an 870 as well, but I got creative. I start off with a wide pattern, a dove shot, so you can hit and wound them at a distance. My next shot is a #4, and then the slug, and then the 00 buck, in case they are trying to get away.

With that load out I would expect you to start with some rock salt...

frick that. you go from home defense to homicide doin all that bullshite. If you got the balls to shot someone that's in your house you might as well drop them dead first shot.
