How do they classify lurkers? People who are online who haven't posted in a certain time period?

I always thought lurkers were people on the site but not logged in.
Just reading the threads but not able to post without joining or logging in.

Well, I know that's what we consider a lurker, but how can they track it if they aren't logged in? Am I counted as lurking if I'm not on TD?
