If I recall correctly, pretty much every cap used to be a "snapback" (a term I just learned in this thread) and all bills were flat when the caps were made and shipped. It was then up to the purchaser to decide whether and how much to shape the bill. It was a very "paw paw in a jumpsuit" thing not to fuss with even shaping the bill and just plopping that bad boy high on the noggin. Through the mesh backing you could often see several inches of daylight between your paw paw's dome and the top of the cap. It is funny to me that it has become fashionable, even "edgy" for younger folks now to sport a version of the old paw paw look from decades ago.

By the way, I am something of old fart and do not care even a little bit which ballcap the OP decides to purchase or how he chooses to wear it. OK, I lied. I do care a little because I commend him for trying to avoid Toonces.
