That is huge. Any reference to where this appears in the books or is it some nugget Martin threw out in an appearance? I've tried to find some clues about why and how Bloodraven left the wall and found nothing till this.

Hey piping in again with a theory on John Snow's Dad
It's Ned Stark's younger brother
as a member of the NW he can't have kid's and if it came out that he had a kid, then I guess he'd have to die or something.
That's how Ned could say "you are a Stark, you have my blood"....and not be his kid.
