I think it's possible Dunk had some giants blood in him. Especially since we don't know anything about his family.

While possible I find it doubtful...
It was the only popular lineage theory I could find on Dunk and his descendants on Westeros.org. I was kind of surprised at the lack of mention of Brienne (even though there were some that mentioned them both).

I mean technically one eye.
But yes .

Exactly... I've always wondered about that but most albinos (especially albinos in works of fiction) have red eyes so it could be nothing.... Then again it could mean everything

He grew up in Flea Bottom... that we do know.
That is a LONG LONG way from giants

People end up in KL all the time though. From all over.
Shut it.

As NIH said, Brienne is from Tarth.
Yes, my bad. I was trying to connect "Starfall" with the description of Brienne & Dunk's shield.
I'm with Cotton on the theory that Hodor has Giant's blood, and that Dunk is just some really big guy. I don't think there is a connection between them. Dunk may have been thick as a castle wall, but Hodor is straight retarded.

That would mean a pregant wildling (most likely the only people who would get knocked up by a giant) would have had to have made their way all the way from beyond the wall to KL before giving birth... No way and there is also no way a new born infant survives that journey.
Thats just a long journey for a wildling to make and I don't buy it.

I know a wildling newborn prince that traveled from beyond the wall to Oldtown. Or maybe Dunk is just tall.
Is there any connection with Dunk to the Cleganes? Isn't the Mountain nearly 8-ft? I think Dunk was just shy of 7-ft.

A wildling prince that was looked after by the LC of the Nights Watch... Something that had never happened before and that baby had a ship

That was also a good 50-60 years ago correct?
It could be possible in the middle of a good summer/spring. Crazier things have happened in Westeros that's for sure.

That would've been about 120-130 years before GOT
Which would put his birth right in the middle of Daeron the seconds reign and the first Blackfyre rebellion.
Would a pregnant wildling really make it that far south during a war?

You're operating under the assumption that Dunk's mother showed up in KL still pregnant. It's entirely possible they travelled after that. He doesn't have any recollection of his parents so there's no telling how he got to KL. Slaves, even young ones, have been moved further then that.
ETA: We're also operating in a world where we have dragons, swords a flame, giants, greenseers, floating/moving castles, magic, and all kinds of other crazy shite. An infant/young child travelling from the North to KL probably isn't that impossible if you consider the context.

Dragon steel is just another word for valyrian steel
Dragon steel vs valyrian steel is one of those theories out there, some believe as you do some believe other wise.
It would seem odd for the Martin to place the dragon steel in there simply for word differentiation.

I mean I certainly admit the possibility I just don't think its very likely

To each his own I suppose.

I mean Hodor practically no link to Dunk as of now that I can think of and Dunk has no links to giants other than a slight chance that it could be possible. If there is evidence I'm missing clue me in.
At least Brienne has some link no matter how flimsy it may be.

I think Dunk and Egg traveling to Winterfell in the next novella along with the timing of Old Nan being there opens some doors.

I'd call Brienne's more than flimsy though. With the shield, Dunk's proximity to Tarth once he is in Summerhall, and etc can be decent indications.
Just my opinion though.

I agree however he could have been sworn to which ever Tarth was Lord of Evenhall at the time. Doesn't necessarily mean he sired a child on a Tarth.
Though I do whole heartedly think that Brienne is his descendant the evidence is circumstantial at best.

Every theory in this thread is circumstantial at best.
Just sayin'
