That's probably the best post you've ever made on here, slackster. I agree with you.

When was their old stadium built?
1976 according to the link. It was upgraded in 1987. A very small portion of the 2008 bond proposal allocated funds to redo the concession stands and the bathrooms at the old field. It apparently was about $1.16 million.
If you want to fuss about wasted funds, that is the only beef that makes any sense. Then again, Louisiana is spending money to add new traffic lights between Lafayette and New Iberia on US90/I49, knowing that in the next few years they will be torn down in favor of overpasses.

I hate our state sometimes. The random traffic lights along HWY 90 already make that drive miserable, and now they want to add more?
I wish people would stop fighting the interstate expansion tooth and nail so the damn thing could get done in my lifetime.

There was a CNN Focus Group last night in D.C. complaining about this very thing. Of course, they were all very misinformed on the whole issue and were crying like the entitled Liberal counts that they are.
They asked a few of the people to state where they were from and their thoughts. All of the whiny bitches in the group were from California, Virginia and New York.
All I have to say to them is "suck our economically superior dicks". When you have your financial house in order, top down shite like this works.

So, to those who say their priorities are screwed up, it would benefit you to do a little (alot in my case) research on what all has been done in the district before or concurrent with the stadium.

I've driven past this stadium several times in the last couple of weeks. It makes me sad to think that Texas school districts are cutting benefits and jobs for teachers but still manage to pull $60M out of their asses for a football stadium. Ridiculous.

Another response that is ignorant. You do realize what a BOND ELECTION is, correct? This isn't coming from the operating budget. This is coming from the tax base that VOTED FOR THEIR TAXES TO BE RAISED TO FUND NOT ONLY THIS PROJECT, BUT $269 MILLION WORTH OF ACADEMIC UPGRADES.
If other school districts could keep their financial business in order, maybe they could pull this off. Don't villify a school district that clearly gets it, and chose to pay for this project OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKETS.

Why all the fuss the area is super nice the community and businesses spend money on have great facilities for everything. They have the nicest driving range I have ever been to, they have a cable pulled wakeboard, skiing, etc course. Whoever said their baseball facilities are crappy is a moron and most likely either never been there, or saw the field beside the old football field. Congrats to the kids that get to play there and the community for giving their youth many things they can be proud to have. It's not going to be perfect but the opportunities around Allen will change many people's lives

You have no idea how school finance works in Texas, do you?
