Wait, just want to make sure I get this correct.
You can test a weapon by running over it with a pickup truck, but heat/flames are a no-go?
So its more likely to run over a rifle with a pickup truck, than say, put a rifle too close to a campfire, or it be in some sort of safe in a structure fire?

This looks like a good spot to put this article about using the new prototype printers to print your own real live AR lower.

They've fired over 200 rounds through it with no apparent wear.

Because you don't "own plastic guns", like one idiot said on another board, watch these videos.
So you wanted to build cheaply, bought a polymer lower because they are the cheapest, found out they are frowned upon by AR snobs and became unsure of your choice, researched until you found some data that made you feel better, and now you are going to become an outspoken polymer lower advocate and people that don't agree with you are "idiots"?

I thought he referred to himself as an idiot?
I'm in the same boat owning one, but I'll make my own decisions. Don't really care about "AR snobs" opinions. Until it breaks/malfunctions for me...

How much lighter are the carbon reinforced lowers?

quote:Not really. You're correct about building cheaply, but I never became unsure about my choice. I read as many reviews as I could find on polymer lowers and figured it would be fine for my first build. Besides, if it breaks, I'm only out a hundred bucks. As far as the AR snobs, I'm joking about that.

Don't know about other polymer lowers, but the New Frontier LW-15 weighs 1.6 lbs. I think it said over 7 oz. lighter than a standard lower.
