I planned on hand whittling toothpicks out of the entire thing. What sucks is it's in a group of 6 trees in the front yard so a missing tree out of the group would look retarded. I might reattach the bark and see if it'll heal itself.
ETA: It's not close to the house or in any danger of falling on anything except the other trees.
