You mean like covering up a sexual abuse scandal that if let out would have negatively affected recruiting? Are you naive enough to think that had news of this broken sooner, it would have made some recruits think twice about going there?

College Football teams are brands. Anything that negatively affects the brand affects recruiting.

You're suggesting that anything which could negatively effect the brand is under the jurisdiction of the NCAA? Or that anything that could cause a recruit to not want to go to the institution? That gives the NCAA nearly limitless power over the entirety of the school's decision-making processes.

That would mean that the NCAA could crush Arkansas, for instance, for Petrino's mistress stuff.
