My neighbor has 3 fox(plural) attacking her chickens in the night.
I have offered to shoot them but she doesnt want me to sacrifice a chicken in the process.
Anyone know the best way to catch them? They are too smart for cage traps and knaw their legs off in foot traps.

Lol they wont chew their footoff in a foothold. Thats mainly raccoons, and i have caught a ton of those in footholds also. Just check the traps every morning right at daylight. If u leave it all day the animal will become stressed and may chew "mainly coon tho" have caught coyotes in footholds no problem with chewing either

Why does a chicken have to be sacrificed? Assuming you meant if you were using a shotgun from a distance.
1. Get night vison goggles, beer, lawn chairs, and .22 rifles
2. Bring me, stake out the spot, and shoot fox

The only time ANY animal will "chew" (usually twist) its foot off in a trap is if you leave it in there way too long. Check the traps at daylight and you won't have a problem. I was catching and selling fox pelts at the age of 10.
