quote:So your logic is that the only possible reason to bring in a guy basically for free who has over a season's worth of starting QB experience at a BCS conference school to add to a depth chart containing exactly one player who's ever taken a snap in a college football game is because he's completely written off everyone else on the depth chart?
But I am just using logic here. Les goes out and gets a guy like him at the 11th hour to be THE backup to Mettenberger as he doesn't want Rivers or Randall playing this year as he still has 2008 jitters. We all know this and will just have to accept it.
Are you people completely incapable of grasping the concept of risk reduction? Let's say you have 3 prepared action plans. Your main plan has a 90% chance of success and the two contingency plans each have a 40% chance of success. Now you are given the option of adding a 3rd contingency plan with a 25% chance of success at no cost. Why exactly would you not do it?
Bolden adds an experienced option to a depth chart lacking in only one thing: experience. No, it does not have to make him a better option than Rivers or Randall, it just makes him an additional option, in addition to Rivers and Randall. The real logic to apply here is to realize that a depth chart including Mett, Rivers, Randall and Bolden is better than a depth chart including only Mett, Rivers and Randall. And Bolden doesn't have to be better than Rivers or Randall to make that true.

Agree to disagree, not really going to get into the Bolden debate on this thread...
